In general, I really don’t like so-called “neutral bags.” The leather has to be truly special, the design truly innovative and beautiful for me to look at one twice, and if it’s not, I bore really easily. My aversion is a result of the belief that there are so many bags out there made in so many beautiful colors, why would anyone choose one in a color that is supposed to, by definition, blend in and hide?
But when I do like a neutral, that neutral is almost always some version of pewter or gunmetal, and the Burberry Metallic Leather Hobo is a great example of that color. It’s not a bright silver at all – it has a lot of grey in it, but enough shine and innate glimmer to make it decidedly glam and metallic. I can see it going with almost anything, but I can’t imagine it blending in and hiding at all, as the “neutral” moniker would indicate. So if you’re going to do something neutral, please do something with at least a LITTLE BIT of a kick. LV Bags Gucci jumped the luxury gun by sponsoring the Gucci Masters on Dec. 14th, at the Parc des Expositions in Villepinte, near Paris. Over the four-day event, Charlotte Casiraghi, the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, gave a glamorous sheen to international equestrians, who included the tennis star-turned-horsewoman, Martina Hingis.
No one could call Gucci an upstart when it comes to the horse culture. The legendary bar-and-bit symbols on shoes and bags trace their origins back to the founding of the brand in 1921. And Frida Giannini, Gucci’s creative director, has had a long love affair with ponies.
Gucci evolved into an urban brand when Tom Ford focused on sex and rock ’n’ roll (and famously painted his country tractor black to match his shiny leather shoes). Now there is a whole horsy universe to recover, along with the loafter culture, which Gucci ceded to Tod’s in the 1990s.
To fully judge the bags from Prada Fall 2011, I strongly urge you to look at the collection as a whole. If you like Prada’s quirky retro-futurisim, you will love the 60s mod quasi-innocence of what Miuccia put together, and in the context of fall’s Prada girl, the bags make perfect sense. The highly textured collection lends itself to simple, single-material bags; after all, if your ensemble already has fur, paillettes and a pair of glitter and python boots, you probably don’t need a handbag that competes for attention.
That being said, I wonder how the bags will sell when removed from the spectacular clothing that provided them with a backdrop for them during the runway show. They’re simple and luxurious, but they lose some of the magic of the mod look when considered on their own. Still, Prada’s overall output for fall is easily my favorite of the season thus far, so I wouldn’t worry too much for the company’s coffers. Cheap Belts Grace yet sophisticated style are one of the main characteristics of Gucci Handbags. The latest 2010 Spring and Summer Collection is not an exception. For instance, this New Bamboo Large Top Handle Bag is of great elegance. And the iconic design makes it in style for seasons to come.
They have been making use of the bamboo detail lately that it seems to have become another of their trademark. Obviously, this Gucci purses has it and it actually gives this bag its casual look plus a bohemian feel since there are also some dangling tassels with bamboo detail on it. The use of such leather material is also nice since the shade is neutral to work through any seasons and it also seems to have textured or printed effect on it that makes this bag chic and refined.
What adds to the elegance and sophistication of this bag is the kind of structured shape of about 10½ x 6¾ x 4¼ inches. There is also some nickel hardware that adds such appeal to its totality. This then opens through a bamboo turnlock closure on the flap, and inside this bag is a mirror with logo script detail and zipper and snap pockets for storage.
