The first time that I scrolled past the Prada Tessuto & Ricamo Tote, I was entirely sure that it was Valentino. Partly that’s because of the difficulty of photographing the details of a bag like this, but partly (or maybe mostly), it’s because it really LOOKS like some of the Valentino bags we’ve seen recently. Incredibly intricate, shiny, flower-themed…that’s kind of their thing. And it’s really not Prada‘s thing – their aesthetic is much more streamlined and modern, particularly in the bag department. And the more I look at it, the clearer it becomes that Miuccia should have left this to her Italian compatriots. The sequins-and-nylon setup they’ve got going on here just isn’t working, not even a little. Valentino does a great job with this gimmick because there is order in the bags’ chaos; the Prada version just looks like someone dumped a bag of black sequins on it. Considering the price tag, I’d look elsewhere if you’re interested in a similar style. Hermes Replica Bag In my opinion, the Burberry Westcott Shoulder Bag is a very clear case of a bag that looks much better in person than it does online. This is the best picture I could find to see the immense detail of the bag’s construction, but it still looks stiff and kind of messy, don’t you think? In reality, it’s anything but. The neat rows of buttery soft leather ruffles are cropped close enough to the bag to not look silly, but still long enough to give the bag tons of texture that makes it much more than just another black leather hobo. The leather that makes up the base of the bag is just as soft as that that makes up the ruffle decoration, which gives the bag a slouch that would probably break in even more with a bit of use. The strap was plenty long to carry the hobo easily and it also has an extra crossbody strap, if that’s your think. The bag is big but not oversized, and still muted enough, with ruffles and all, to use as an everyday bag that could be carried to work. On the whole, I think Burberry did a beautiful job with this bag, and it’s really too bad that it doesn’t show up well in photos.
Katie Holmes has gone from the girl on the Creek, to the girl with the wacko husband, to the girl who dresses 10 years older than her age. I liked her on the Creek and I also love her chic style these days (though like I said she looks much older than she actually is). And now she is carrying a bag that literally weighs half her body weight, I kid you not. Katie Holmes has been seen sporting a Hermes HAC around town, though not for travel, for day-to-day wear. The HAC, Haut a Courrois, was actually the original ‘Birkin’. The HAC and the Birkin are indeed different; the HAC is taller than the Birkin and the handles are shorter. The HAC comes in a 28, 32, and 36 cm size whereas the Birkin is available in 25, 30, 35, and 40. The debate is on as to the size of Katie’s HAC. I am sticking to my original assessment, it is a 50 cm HAC, but many members of our Purse Forum think it is a 40 cm. I am taking into account that Katie is very thin and 5’9, and since she and I are about the same height it looks very similar to the 50 cm I have tried on. The next debate is the leather and color. My guess, Fjord in Rouge VIF, but again, there are so many Hermes reds and I can be wrong. What many of us are in agreement on is that this bag is far too large for Katie. The Prada Printed Chain Shoulder Bag didn’t immediately cause that association in my head, though. Rather, my first thought was, “Ooh, nice print.” Whether or not you like this bag probably hinges largely on whether or not you like Prada’s famous patterns, which are always sharp and interesting, as opposed to girly or traditionally pretty. I love them, no matter how difficult they may make it to fit a bag like this into a wardrobe. During warmer months, I think I could make it happen, though.
