Books are High Fashion

Have you ever heard of the Louis Vuitton books? As an ecstatic bookworm and travel-lover, it is wonderful to see such a fashion master like LV highlighting the importance of books and their variety. To me, books are high fashion.

The philosophy behind Louis Vuitton city guide 2009 is to perfectly capture the spirit of cities with words and imagination. Providing an attentive and informed commentary on the changes shaking the heart of cities and voicing off-beat views on fashion, design, the arts and gastronomy, each guide illustrated the latest trends and offers unique suggestion. When comparing with previous version, Louis Vuitton for the first time presents five volumes devoted to five cities of the world: Mumbai, Miami, New York, Paris, and Tokyo. The redesigned city guide boxes reference the heritage of Louis Vuitton, drawing inspiration from a vintage luggage label of the kind hotel bellboys would affix to traveler’ trunks.

While deep brown appears, the guide still favors the bright colors that have become its trademark over the past decade. Pistachio Green for the European cities, Royal Blue for Paris, Buttercup for New York, Rosewood for Tokyo, Almond Green for Miami and Magenta for Mumbai.10luoyuejun0831

Bottega Veneta Exotics

While we were in New York, Vlad and I made it a priority to stop into the Bottega Veneta store, which is their flagship. The store is huge, and beautiful (and undergoing renovations). We were greeted by a great SA who showed us and informed us about so many meticulous details of Bottega items. With many luxury houses losing their luster, Bottega Veneta is one of the few luxury houses that has retained their luxury. The weave is perfected at the house of Bottega, and many do not realize the degree of perfection they implement with their exotics. If you are looking for alligator, Bottega uses a specific gator from Madagascar that leaves a raise after each scale. The raise gives the bag a stunning dimension, as the dye darkens around the raised edges to really make the exotic skin pop. And there is another process to treating their alligator; involving soaking the skin (belly only) in water, then having the artisan hand treat the skin by pounding it out and then hand brushing each scale. The result is divine, which leaves the exotic skin feeling as if it is suede. You have to touch it to believe it, because it seems unreal. And then there are their python skins, lizard skins, ostrich, and of course the divine weave that they implement. So if you are looking for an exotic, the house of Bottega may be perfect for you. Make sure to stop by your local boutique to feel and indulge in the perfection of their processes.

And while I wished to leave with a piece of exotic perfection, I had a different bag in mind. So I settled with the stunning Bottega Veneta Ballet Flats in Carmino ($570 at Saks).

Below is a compilation of exotic (and intricate woven leather) items Bottega Veneta offers. Check them out if you are looking for utmost luxury and attention to detail!

Gucci Family Coat of Arms

When did the Italian Gucci family come from? What is the family coat of arms? What is the mystery behind the family coat of arms? Now please follow me to the mysterious Gucci.

Gucci family coat of arms was designed by Guccio Gucci, founder of the House of Gucci. In 1950s Gucci came up with it for the first time. On the arms are a knight carrying shied and a luggage, which represents that Gucci House anciently held seats and estates during the renaissance, because in those ancient times only persons of rank, the podesta, clergy, city officials, army officers, artists, and landowners were entered into the records. Taking a closer look, you’ll discover above the knight are a rose and a steering wheel representing elegance and strength of Gucci House.

Today the Gucci creative director, Frida Giannini drew the inspiration and element from the ancient coat of arms, utilizing the modern but vintage arms on the leather belt, cuff-link, and bag even tongue of high boots. Furthermore, Frida Giannini added her personal interpretation in it so as to conform to seasonal popular themes. For instance, the Lily coat of arms is sourced from the city flower of Florence where Gucci house was founded. In the Gucci Hysteria Collection, the regal and subtle coat of arms is the focal point of this collection. Besides the strong visual effect, the coat of arms shows Gucci’s rich historical heritage as well as brilliant future.10luoyuejun0830

Louis Vuitton Mini Lin Croisette

Welcome to a slightly delayed Edition of Tuesdays with Twiggers! Cruise season is officially upon us! Although if you are like me you are merely thinking of turkey dinner and trying to finish up your holiday shopping. However, the idea of taking off on a cruise to a faraway island and leaving the husband to finish his own holiday shopping, decorate the tree, hang the decorations, and cook the Christmas dinner (all while toting a fabulous new Louis Vuitton bag) somehow appeals to me! The cruise season also makes me think of sun and funnd the dreary Midwest is not going to be providing any of that for at least another 5-6 months!

Even though I not escaping to any distant islands this year, Louis Vuitton has still released some beautiful new bags that will help get me through the dreary winter months. The new Mini Lin Croisette line was released on November 1 and contains a great selection of handbags and accessories sure to please everyone. The Mini Lin Croisette is a variation of the traditional Mini Lin line, part of the permanent collection; however, for the cruise collection the bags now come in two new colors, red and blue, and are subtly striped. When I picture red and white stripes I automatically think of candy canes, but not so with these new bags! The bags are trimmed in a gorgeous white pebbled leather. I am very impressed with this new collection and am curious to find out what you think too!

Gucci Gaudy Spring

If I was a teenage girl, I will be stuck on the Gucci Spring Gift. Everywhere is hearts pattern, seeming so cute. Nevertheless, I am not a girl any more, and Gucci’s target customers are not the teenage. I have to say, the hearts pattern is so gaudy and disgusted in golden and platinum, especially when you wear a set of Gucci hearts from top to toe.

Look at this set, there are nine hearts plus with a detachable heart charm on the JOY medium boston bag. Nine conspicuous golden and platinum hearts, wow, I do not want people to view me as upstart for wearing a so snazzy Gucci bag.

On top of that, the shoes, the wallets and small accessory in this set are all decorated with golden hearts. Gilding the lily is the best praise for this Gucci Spring Gift. If you are interested in Gucci and want to be the focus in any occasion, this Kitsch is really a very good choice.10luoyuejun0828

Prada Crispy Nylon Tote

Resort bags are slowly trickling out for all of us to see. And while the winter has not even hit yet, I am dreaming of our spring trip (destination unknown). There was a huge price hike on the Prada Nylon line last season, but for their resort line the nylon prices are again reasonable. I love the aquamarine coloring on the quilted nylon of the Prada Crispy Nylon Tote. Nothing super fabulous, but perfect to wipe off any spill, making this great for those who are toeing around their kids. The top handles are made with tonal leather and there is a removable shoulder strap, which comes in handy when you need to be hands free, and an ID tag.

Battered Luxury Brands Eye Chinese Market For Growth

While the developed world tighten their belts and focus spending on daily necessities, the big luxury companies are looking to China’s new rich to buy their jewelry, clothes and bags.

The Chinese market shows remarkable resilience in the financial crisis because it has an increasing number of people able and willing to buy luxury goods, says Guo.

“Unlike the mature traditional markets, demand in China is far from saturated either materially or psychologically.”

The high-end market, which was once believed to be immune from economic downturn, has seen weakening sales growth or even declines in the traditional markets of the United States, Europe and Japan, analysts say.

A study by the Bain & Company consultants in October predicted global luxury goods sales growth would slow sharply to 3 percent to hit 175 billion euros (220 billion dollars) in 2008. The slower growth rate stood in sharp contrast with 6.5 percent in 2007 and 9percent growth in 2006.

The study also forecast the luxury sector would face its first recession in six years in 2009, with sales declining by up to 7 percent.10luoyuejun0827

Miu Miu Aged Leather Tote

The color pink has an affinity to me. It is such a feminine shade, and the plethora of hues really gives a variety of options if you want to wear pink. I already fell head over heels in love with the Miu Miu Ostrich Tote (the kind of burning, pining, cherishing love) and now the Miu Miu Aged Leather Tote which sports pink aged leather with gold hardware has my heart also. The color on this handbag shape just lures me in. I am hooked. There is a handle or shoulder strap option and three separate compartments on the inside. My only problem now is to decide between the pink, the gray ostrich, or both

Desktop Gift from Gucci—a Desk Tray

It is said that organization, appearance and productivity are the three most important elements of running an efficient business. Nowadays countless office supplies are available to help dealing with your office affairs and it is realy hard to choose.

As I see it, one item is particularly vital for making a significant difference in efficiency, and a Gucci desk tray embodies the merits of efficiency, convenience, and elegance. Sized at 4.5″L x 2.5″H, the desk tray is large enough for holding your needed documents so as to reduce office clutter. It is worth mention that the tray is made from chocolate Guccissima leather with chocolate leather trim. Is the price $650 a little bit hard to accept? Yes, to outfit a desktop with Gucci desk trays is a large investment, yet one that will pay off in the end both materially and mentally. I think it is no need for me to reiterate the efficiency it brings, or I would be considered wordy. How is your feeling towards the creeping scent and heavy color of black coffee? Just imagine drinking a cup of hot coffee during a break cut from your busy working and feeling the elegant texture of the Gucci desk tray. A sense of accomplishment and satisfaction will make its coming.10luoyuejun0826

Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty, & Everything Glamour

Love her or hate her, it is not new knowledge that Rachel Zoe is the driving force behind many of today’s trends. From celebrities like Cameron Diaz and Lindsay Lohan to Salma Hayek, Zoe decides what is the best look and the rest of the world scavengers to attain that look. Zoe has a profound influence and impact on the fashion world. The dress that you went out to buy, the shoes you yearned for, the oversized sunglasses you had to have, were all catapulted from what Zoe decided was hot.

Rachel Zoe wanted to share her fashion tips and secrets with the world, writing the book Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty, & Everything Glamour. If you are looking for this book to turn you into a Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton, or even Rachel Zoe, don’t expect that. But do expect this book to help you pave your way and your style. The first tip Zoe gives is the most important piece of advice; ‘know thyself and create your own look’. Don’t buy something because you saw it on a celebrity, buy it because it looks good on you and fits your style. What you all will love is that Rachel Zoe depends on accessories to make our break your outfit, she believes accessories are more important than clothes. That statement alone lured me in, because it is the statement I live by and agree with. As far as handbags go, Zoe is a firm believer in sticking to a quality classic rather than a logo-splattered bag. Thumbs up from me thus far!

The book proceeds to lead you through her tips, yet the idea that rings out loud and clear is to wear what you like, feel comfortable in your skin, and don’t be afraid to be bold and daring. If you buy a quirky and in-your-face dress, wear it. Carry yourself with confidence and you will project an image of confidence in your skin. The book does not make you into something that you are not, rather it guides you to find your sense of style and what works for you best. Rachel finishes the book off with an important statement; The meaning of life is living it.

This book was a fun read, which illustrates Zoe’s list of must haves but allows you to tweak your style along the way. I plan on keeping this book on my coffee table for some time, offering guests to my home a conversation piece from one of the most influential icons in the fashion world.

Gucci Pour Homme & Gucci Pour HommeⅡ

Gucci Pour Homme and Gucci Pour Homme Ⅱ are the essence of Gucci man. The former was created by Michel Almairac in 2003 while the later was created by Karine Dubreuil in 2007.

The composition of Gucci Pour Homme relies on the warm notes of spices, woods and amber. Top notes are Artemisia, basil, bergamot, lavender, lemon, patchouli, pink peper, pimento and sandalwood. The base is warm thanks to amber, incense, musk, Tonka bean, vanilla, vetiver and sage. For the Gucci pour Homme Ⅱ,the composition opens with fresh notes of violet leaf and bergamot. Very soon the green-fruity opening leaves the space to the spicy notes of the heart: red hot chili pepper pimento, cinnamon and black tea. The woodsy and elegant violet links it to the base composed of olive tree wood, tobacco leaves, musk and myrtle.

They both come in a handsome and heavy glass bottle with a snap-on metal top and a base of textured glass that resembles wire mesh. Pour Homme has good lasting power and its fragrance stays close to body, which is suit for mature and self-confident gentleman. But Pour HommeⅡis light cologne, good for hot weather use and for those young men who want only a soap-like hint of scent on their skin.10luoyuejun0825

Valentino Couture Bag

I am positively certain that this fever I have is not affecting my vision and love when it comes to this handbag. The feminine touches that are added to this handbag give it such a stunning feel. The soft nappa leather with the woven and gathered details is intricately designed to make your mouth water. The Valentino Couture Bag is now on my must have list, luring me in with its lush appeal and delicate style. The creamy colored leather is the perfect touch, which will melt in your hands while you carry this handbag during the cold seasons. It will stand out from the snow covered trees and compliment your grays and plum colors divinely. The braided top handle is like the cherry on top of the sundae, just the perfect touch to seal the deal. I am a little disappointed with the mere cotton canvas lining, but I must keep telling myself that the outside beauty makes up for the lower end inside lining. Dimensions are large, which will only further make this beauty stand out, measuring 26″W X 16″H X 9″D.

A Quirky Smiling Face-Louis Vuitton Leather Bowling Montaigne

Every bowling Fans. Attention please! Ever leave home and forget what it was you were going to do? Well, if you lose track of your memory for a second and look down at your Louis Vuitton Leather Bowling Montaigne you may momentarily think you were headed for the bowling alley.

Seriously though, there has to be some reason why people are flocking to own this $1500 dollar monastery, oh that’s right, it’s a Louis Vuitton.

Fashion is supposed to be experimental, but sometimes it is ok to say something is ugly, especially when it means saying no to a bowling bag as a purse.

To be fair, the bag is actually quite spacious which all woman can appreciate and the white and red colors are actually quite shiny and reflectively eye catching (and albeit some staring). The inside has a nice textile lining to help give the Bowling Montaigne its shape aided by the protective metal feet on the bottom.

The most amusing accent on this bag is that there is actually a key and a padlock on the zipper to protect the contents of the bag, now here’s the real question, where is the security for the $1500 bag? Or is that what the bowling ball was for. If you are hesitant by the hefty price tags on authentic Louis Vuitton Handbag, a cheap Replica Louis Vuitton Handbag is a great alternative.10luoyuejun0824

This bag is the best known Rebecca Minkoff bag, designed with lush leather and the perfect slouch. The outside offers a tassel zipper and hook hardware on either side. The size is perfect to carry it from the day into the night, measuring 14 in x 6 in x 8 in. Buy it through Rebecca Minkoff for $595.

Magic Hermes Scarf

workmanship and discreet luxury, requires up to two years of work to produce a collectible work of art that is an expression of its epoch. No matter Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s or Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City, Hermes scarf has always been a powerful symbol of feminine allure.

Whether used to shield top stars from publicity (as Marilyn Monroe and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis) or to guard against negative energy or spirits (as silk is used in culture), the silk scarf has always had a certain refined charm about it. Even when Grace Kelly used Hermes scarf as a sling for her broken arm, the scarf was still the ever-glamorous focal.

However, did you ever think a silky square could be so versatile? Whether you’re using it to hide a hickey, support a broken arm or cover up a bad dye job, a scarf is one of the most stylishly efficient tools we have. The following articles recommend some creative (and chic) ways to incorporate this status symbol into your everyday life.

Louis Vuitton Mini Grimaud

I have been obsessing over this Louis Vuitton man bag since the second our favorite Bal Harbour SA ‘J’ allowed me to lay my eyes on it. The Mini Grimaud from the Bequia line is the ultimate, sophisticated man bag that inherits bold features from its vintage sister Grimaud (which was recently brought back to life in Damier canvas, without the traditional shoe inserts, though). The calf leather is very thick, which makes the Mini Grimaud a heavy carry even in an empty state. Numerous chunky brass pieces and the heavy-duty zipper add additional weight, which does limit the bag’s portability (not a comfortable aeronautical traveling bag) but makes a perfect companion for weekend convertible trips to the Hampton’s. For $2,550, you get a sturdy short-traveler that will last a lifetime.

Louis Vuitton Epi Leather Bowling Montaigne

In the South, we’re a little weird about college football. If any of you grew up or went to college south of the Mason-Dixon line, you’re already aware of this phenomenon. Not only do our college teams garner much more ardent support than any of our professional teams, but people devote themselves to their Alma maters with an emotional vigor that is rare to find elsewhere in all of sports.

So what’s this got to do with handbags, you say? Well, today is opening day of the 2008 college football season, and although most of the games aren’t until Saturday, a few will be televised tonight and kick off (literally) the happiest 12 weeks of the year for this sports fan. Not only that, but this time of year brings about an odd dressing conundrum for all female football fans that support schools in the South.

Because here, you can’t just wear *anything* to a game. We dress up for football like some people dress up for church – and we do it in our team’s colors. Some schools (particularly those where orange figures prominently, bleh) have a harder time of it than others, and I like to think that my school chose wisely. I am an alumni of The University of Georgia, and our colors are red and black. I’ve bought an untold number of dresses, pairs of shoes, and pieces of jewelry in red and black, thinking, Great! I can wear this on game day! In reality, there are only 6 or 7 home games per year, and I have more sundresses and red jewelry than I could ever hope to wear to them.

Not everyone understands the desire to dress up for a football game, but in the South, it’s a tradition – my mother and father did it decades before me (at Auburn and UGA, respectively), and it’s a custom that I’m proud to carry on. It harkens back to an era when social events, including football games, were worthy of proper dressing, and also an era where women didn’t go outside in sweatpants with words on their bottoms. Obviously, this tradition was made for me.

One thing that’s very important for a put-together look, as all of you know, is a great bag, and it’s no less important on game days. A good, functional, fashionable bag can make or break the day since keeping your things with you and safe while traipsing from tailgate to tailgate is essential if you want to eventually make it inside the game (tickets! Guard the tickets!).

My personal pick? The Louis Vuitton Epi Leather Bowling Montaigne PM in red (Louis Vuitton is more common at southern football games than you’d think). Epi leather is rigid and durable, and the bag would probably be weighty enough to use to smack an opposing fan in the head. The PM size would be small enough to tuck safely under the bleacher and the zip-top closure would keep things safely inside where the bag to tip over or fall off a seat (because if you lose your ticket, the world ends). And the color? Pure, Bulldawg red. Buy through eLuxury for $1500. But it is more cheaper on Top1handbag.net.10luoyuejun0821

Bottega Veneta Shoulder Bag

While Bottega Veneta’s signature is their intricate weaving of the most buttery soft leather, they still work with plain leather to appeal the masses. The perfect pairing of brown leather with intrecciato panels on each side, the Bottega Veneta Shoulder Bag brings the best of both worlds together in one handbag. The flap over top has a faux padlock clasp fastening. The adjustable shoulder straps are a nice touch. The inside of Bottega bags is so lush, with their suede lining, that your fingers begin to feel guilty touching such a supple material. This handbag exudes style, with a subtle hint of the signature for Bottega Veneta, and lovely brass hardware.

Untypical exclusivity-Louis Vuitton Sac De Nuit

The recent ostrich-trimmed Toile Trianon collection was introduced for last year’s spring-summer runway collection to coincide with Vuitton’s 150th anniversary and features details reminiscent of the first canvas-lined, embossed leather patch trunks the company produced in the late 1800s. The Louis Vuitton Sac De Nuit is a prime specimen of the aforementioned collection. Isn’t it to die for? A Toile Trianon cotton and polyester canvas, plated ostrich leather trimmings, along with the varnished polished brass buckle and nail hardware, they all contribute to this bag being the most fashionable way to sport a vintage Louis look these days. Striped cotton and polyester lining fill the interior, as inspired from the early trunk beds. This remarkable bag is destined to become a timeless classic, and sure the price tag does reflect its exclusivity. If you are hesitant by the hefty price tags on authentic Louis Vuitton Handbag, a cheap Replica Louis Vuitton Handbag is a great alternative.10luoyuejun0820

the News: Luxury the new McDonald’s

We are all very aware that we pay mark up on our designer handbags, and if you are not aware, get out from under that rock. I love designer handbags, obviously, but sometimes even I gasp at the price tags. If you ever shop with me you may see me peering at price tags and my face becoming flush and then I walk off and browse more. That is from the price tag, the exorbitant price tag. But I keep on buying and I keep on sharing with all of you the next hot handbags and those that are not. The writer of Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Lustre, Dana Thomas, compared Louis Vuitton to McDonald’s, being recognizable as the golden arches with no pizazz from the chairman of Louis Vuitton, Bernard Arnault.
